All tenants of Jacaranda Housing have rights and obligations as part of their tenancy.
Tenant Rights
- Security of tenure within the terms of the Form 18a General Tenancy Agreement, ongoing eligibility for community housing and funding guidelines
- Confidentiality of personal information
- Access to tenant’s own information
- Make complaints and appeal decisions
- Access and use the services of advocates
- To be treated fairly and with respect and dignity
Tenant Obligations
- Follow and comply with the rules set out in the Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008, including the tenant responsibilities under the Form 18a General Tenancy Agreement
- Having regard to the condition of the property at the start of the tenancy, maintain the property to an acceptable standard including keep the premises clean
- Pay rent on time as due, in the way written in the Form 18a General Tenancy Agreement
- Inform Jacaranda Housing of any repairs required or damage (accidental or otherwise) to the property as soon as they occur and/or practicable, including smoke alarms
- Use the premises as the main place of residence only
- Not use the home for a business purpose or run a business from the premises
- Not use your home for illegal purposes
- Not cause a nuisance, or seriously affect the reasonable peace, comfort or privacy of your neighbours
- Always abide by the Jacaranda Housing Tenant Code of Conduct
- Adhere to Jacaranda Housing policy and procedures.
